In The Vale of Glamorgan on the outskirts of Cardiff sits a Grade II listed house set in 42 acres of land, the country house and formal gardens was built in 1939 by renowned architect Percy Thomas, although its’ history can be traced as far back as 1166. Its previous tenant also relates to Mr Samuel Arthur Brains, Founder of ‘Brains Brewery’.
Nestled within these 42 acre grounds sits a previous barn, used as a work store as part of the estate and was overlooked for years. More recently, owner Emma Vidler has transformed the Barn in to a state of the art Holiday home, as part of the re-development of the Cwrt Yr Ala Estate.
Emma Vidler (owner) says:
“The Cwrt Yr Ala Estate contributes to the welsh history of the Vale of Glamorgan, I wanted to open up the estate to holiday-makers, so people can appreciate the barns and grounds as much as I do. People can stay in the barns and enjoy use of the outdoor swimming pool against the backdrop of the house, and guests explore the grounds, which have relaxing forest walks along the river.”
The estate has never been open for guests in this way and as well as luxury breaks in the Barns, the estate can also be used for event and wedding functions, most recently Emma Vidler hosted the Kidney Wales Foundation ball, where over 300 guests attended an evening to raise money for the charity.
Matt Jones who attended the function says:
"I attended a fundraising Ball here for the Kidney Wales Foundation. What a superb venue for an event! 300 people, drinks on the terrace, stunning views of the countryside – perfect."
Holiday makers of up to 10 guests can book the Barns as a whole and enjoy exclusive access to the holiday home and the grounds, however, the owner has also accommodated for smaller groups of 6 or 4, whereby the inter-connecting doors can be locked so you can have the holiday of your choice.
